Valentine’s Day is coming up, and unfortunately it happens to be one of the most popular times in the year to buy expensive gifts such as a fur coat. It is disgraceful that on a day reserved for love, the heartless fur industry makes a profit. That’s why VFA is holding our next Canadian Fur protest next week right before the busy Valentine’s Day weekend. We will be holding the protest on Friday, February 12th, from 12 PM-1 PM, during the busy downtown weekday lunch hour.

The fur industry directly depends on the mass suffering, torture, and deaths of 50 million animals a year for nothing except simple greed and vanity, and there is absolutely no excuse or justification for this reprehensible industry to continue to exist. Therefore, the theme of this protest will be “Have a Heart: Shut Down Canadian Fur”, and we will have signs proclaiming this slogan as well as “Canadian Fur is Heartless.”

We will have signs and leaflets available, so you only have to bring yourself.  If you work downtown and are able to get out for the lunch hour, please come down and join us, even if it is only for a few minutes. It’s cold outside and right now the forecast temperature for next Friday is in the upper 20s, so dress in layers and we will bring either some vegan hot chocolate or hot coffee for everyone to share and keep warm.
